How it all began
Our origin story is at least as extraordinary as our sprinkle mixes!
It all began in 2011 with selling cupcakes on the street 🧁✨

All beginnings are small!

It all started on a whim. Our founder Lilli always liked to snack on raw dough and often mixed it without even intending to bake. But she didn't want to simply throw away the leftovers, so she put the dough in the oven without further ado. She gave the finished creations to friends and family as gifts - and they loved them!At the same time, Lilli's parents were on vacation in England. Her mother told her that cupcakes, muffins and small cakes were sold on every corner there and that they were very successful. This sales concept was not yet so established in Germany at the time. But Lilli's boyfriend at the time and she encouraged each other to give it a try. They started selling the cupcakes on the street - actually just to earn some money for a vacation. However, the idea was so well received that they were able to travel for the first time after just two weeks.
After passing her A-levels, Lilli registered a business and won the Start-up Weekend in 2012 for the best pitch Despite promising prospects, she initially decided to study in Bayreuth and "only" keep baking as a side job. But the demand for her products never stopped.
The beginning of something great

After graduating, Lilli returned to Hamburg and decided to go all-in on cupcakes. She started offering catering services to other companies, featuring homemade cakes, cupcakes, and many other treats. The catering business flourished, and soon after, Lilli had the opportunity to open her own café. A few weeks later, in June 2017, she signed the lease for the café in Eimsbüttel, and from then on, everything happened quite quickly.
She wanted to stand out from the crowd and use colorful sprinkles to decorate her cupcakes and cakes. However, she quickly realized that there were no colorful or unique sprinkles available in Germany. During a trip to the USA, she discovered not only much more colorful sprinkles but also extraordinary baking supplies. Without further ado, Lilli packed a suitcase full of beautiful sprinkles and brought them back to Germany. 🧳
Sprinkles for everyone!
Our online store launches! ✨
As there were no colorful and unusual Sprinkles in German supermarkets, Lilli kept bringing back Sprinkles from abroad. Once she arrived in Eimsbüttel, Lilli created her own sweet Sprinkles mixes, which became the highlight of every treat. Lilli enjoyed mixing and creating new Sprinkles mixes so much that she decided to take the problem of boring Sprinkles in Germany into her own hands and make her mixes available to everyone, even outside the café.In November 2018, after a long period of tinkering, our website finally went online, allowing everyone in Germany to buy the colorful Sprinkles . After just a few days, other bakeries wanted to stock our sprinkles, and after just one week we were in the first Edeka.
Challenges
Focus on our sprinkles 🧁
The year 2020 brought unexpected challenges for all of us with the COVID-19 measures. But in the midst of this turbulent time, our sprinkles finally took center stage. Since mixing new, colorful blends brought us so much joy, we decided to pour our energy, along with the entire café team, into our sprinkle start-up.
It wasn't just us on the team who discovered a passion for sprinkles; many people spending more time at home also found joy in baking and decorating with colorful sprinkles. And lo and behold, the idea and the sprinkles were so well received by all of you that it led to rapid growth for our company. We are grateful for your support and the tireless work of our team, which made this success possible. 💖
Expansion of rooms and within the team
Moving to the new office 🏡
Thanks to your support and our passion for new, exciting projects, we quickly outgrew our small office. In the autumn of 2021, it was time to move into a new, much larger office. This was already our third move in just two years. Our new home now spans three floors, providing space for storage and production areas.
Our office also offers plenty of room for our steadily growing team. For example, we have a room that we regularly use for relaxing yoga sessions or to give our creative minds a break with a round of table tennis. 🧘 ♀️
Process optimization

In the spring of 2022, we focused on optimizing our workflows and expanding our production capacities. Given the steadily growing interest in our products, it was essential to introduce more efficient and effective processes to keep up with demand.
To achieve this goal, we invested in state-of-the-art production facilities that allow us to manufacture our sprinkles and other products on a larger scale and with greater precision.
However, it was important to us during these optimizations that we keep certain processes done with loving care by hand. For instance, all our sprinkle mixes are blended by hand, and our bento boxes and highly delicate chocolate spheres are filled by hand. 🍫

Today, Happy Sprinkles employs over 50 people and our team is constantly growing. We are passionate about sprinkling everything we can get our hands on, and we want to make the baking world more colorful, sparkling and exciting together with you!🌈✨We are gaining new sales partners every day - both nationally and internationally - and it fills us with great joy when you become part of our joyful journey. At Happy Sprinkles , we believe that love is more than just pink - it's colorful and diverse! 🌈 That's why we don't just want to celebrate love on Valentine's Day, but live it all year round under the motto 'Spread Love'. We are committed to ensuring that everyone can live out their love freely. 💝That's why we support the LGBTQ+ community - together with you! For every "#spreadlove" can sold, we donate 10% of the proceeds to organizations that campaign for the rights and acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community.

Giving back and supporting others is important to us. That's why we support our sponsored child Ayanda financially. She is an adorable 8-year-old girl and lives in Zimbabwe.Through our partnership with the organization Plan International, we have the opportunity to accompany Ayanda on her way to school and support her with a fixed monthly amount. Ayanda touches our hearts with her endless energy and her radiant smile. 💝
